Calligramme

- Jaide Edwards

Embracing that I am a Pisces, I am unique because of the difficulties I faced as a baby due to my brachial plexus, which shaped my life from the beginning. Despite experiencing chronic pain, my disability inspired a strong will and led me to pursue a career for public relations and journalism. I tried to incorporate the Pisces symbol into my artistic expression while exploring ways to set it apart from the traditional interpretation. This graphic depiction not only conveys the astrological essence but also the courage that comes from overcoming adversity in life.

Using Illustrator on adobe design software, I created this profound graphic that represents my path as a Pisces. With the anchor pen tool, I carefully sketched the picture. Precise sentence arrangement was made easier by the direct selection tool, which improved the visual storytelling. By utilizing the type on path feature, I was able to include text into each layout with ease and create a coherent story. Using visual cues to express my own story, tenacity, and love of public relations and media, the design captures the spirit of my Pisces identity.

A Miracle That is Praised: A Poem to Myself Two Decades Later

In the tapestry of time, two decades unfold,

A journey traversed, tales of silver and gold.

At nineteen, dreams whispered, now reality's hold,

As I speak to the future, a story to be told.

Four books, my legacy, their tales well-spun,

Words that danced beneath the radiant sun.

Bestsellers they became, a symphony of acclaim,

In the quiet of pages, echoes of my name.

A public relations manager, a wielder of fame,

Guiding stars, in the vast celebrity game.

Around the world, my pen takes flight,

Reporting on greatness, in the day and the night.

Two little souls, in our haven they dwell,

A home of love, where sweet stories swell.

With a partner by my side, hand in hand,

We built dreams together, a castle in the sand.

Two decades ago, a time that scared,

My mother's journey, in resilience, she strolled.

A diabetic struggle, a toe's amputation,

Yet, in her strength, a story of salvation.

She stands here now, a beacon so stable,

In the face of adversity, she crafted her fable.

Living well, in health's embrace,

A testament to courage, a triumph over grace.

Now, in reflection, a profound sight,

The brachial plexus, a twist of light.

A birthright challenge, a unique stream,

A miracle, indeed, in the grandest scheme.

In its constraint, resilience took root,

A journey transformative, a resounding hoot.

Living the dream that once seemed afar,

The brachial plexus, my guiding star.

I am the storyteller, weaving tales untold,

A public relations manager, in the glittering fold.

Traveling far and wide, with pen and delight,

Writing the narratives, that dance in the light.

So, here's to the journey, the twists and turns,

To the symphony of life, where resilience burns.

In every trial, a seed of grace,

For in the dance of challenges, dreams find their place.

Portfolio

Completing my FMX Digital Media program at the University of Tampa has been an enriching journey, challenging me to expand my skills and creativity within the Adobe suite specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. As someone already immersed in the graphic design business, learning these software platforms not only broadened my capabilities but also refined my approach to visual storytelling. From the outset, navigating through the intricacies of Adobe Illustrator to the nuanced editing features of Photoshop, and the layout finesse of InDesign, each phase of this course presented its own hurdles and triumphs. Throughout this demanding course, I've encountered moments of struggle and growth, from the initial learning curve to mastering advanced techniques. Yet, with persistence and dedication, I've emerged equipped with a comprehensive understanding of Adobe tools that will undoubtedly serve me well in my future endeavors. Compiling this portfolio, I've curated a sel

Business Card

Using InDesign, I was able to incorporate deep symbolism into each design to create personal business cards that truly reflected who I am. The first card represents the light I bring into people's lives; it has a captivating eye. My presence brings joy and support, much like the eye is a window to the soul. The vivid green color represents my name, Jaide, like the priceless Jade stone. The second card, with the initials "JG," pays tribute to my ancestry and my great-great-grandmother's name Georgiane. Finally, the third card's bright blue color represents my zodiac sign, Pisces, which is a sensitive and adaptable water sign. These cards were mostly created by hand using InDesign's rectangle tool to create the color backgrounds. In order to achieve the ideal colors and make sure every shade had the intended meaning, the Adobe Color Wheel was essential. Using the fill Gradient tool to provide depth and dimension, the second card's design was a particularly
